Former ambassador Arben Çejku has stated that pressure is being exerted by the US on several countries to accept the population of Gaza, following the plan for their displacement.
Çejku made the comments on the 'Debat' show with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, where he said that if Albania is also being pressured on this issue, our country will find it difficult to resist.
This is because, according to him, the government is afraid due to the numerous problems it 'carries on its shoulders' and the opposition is having bad 'days'.
He added that if the US is demanding that Palestinians settle in Albania, our country can 'defend itself' with dignity by putting forward the status of a NATO member country and arguments on security issues.
"There is pressure being exerted to find a place for these people. If Albania is being pressured, I don't know how much power they have to keep up with American pressure, this government scared of many problems, but also the opposition that has its own problems."
But these have an opportunity to be defended with dignity from a diplomatic perspective, by putting forward the status of a NATO member country, for security issues, but one can also talk about regional impact, because we are also surrounded by other countries.
"Even in terms of religion, they have a different model, despite being Muslim, they have a different cultural approach and we have a different one," said Çejku, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
