Democratic Party MP Tritan Shehu demanded that in the two remaining sessions in the Albanian Parliament, before the start of the new session, the draft law proposed by the opposition to recognize only two genders in Albania, male and female, be voted on.
"It is an essential law, which President Trump passed in one of the first 7 decisions he made after winning the US presidential elections, giving it the importance it deserves. I ask you, as one of the sponsors of that bill, to pass it immediately. I invite you to pass this law in the remaining sessions of this Assembly. Then with a vote, you can do whatever you want, I know your inclinations, I know your tendencies to hit the family. But come out of your own way, let's approve this law, because it will be in the honor of this Parliament", said Shehu in his speech in the Assembly.
"All MPs' initiatives are on the calendar. It is up to the committee chairs to review the initiatives in order. If you don't use this platform to talk about initiatives that are not related to our approval and opposition, you are being biased. You are talking about human rights, but this is irrelevant," replied the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali. (A2 Televizion)
