The Foreign Policy Committee of the Socialist International met in Tirana, where Prime Minister Rama shared with the participants the fever of the election campaign and the majority's goals for a fourth governing term.
Rama focused extensively on justice reform, as part of the work started years ago by Albania to become part of the European Union.
"It is painful that for the first time in our state's history since 1912, when we declared independence, we see powerful people connected to the political state, government or opposition, who are accountable to independent prosecutors. I cannot hide from you that from a human point of view it is not the most honorable thing to see people you have known for a long time brought to justice to answer for various things. And since they are innocent until proven guilty, these are processes that take their time. What is new in Albania, and quite revolutionary, is that we have cleaned the justice process through a verification process and we have handed over the sword of punishment from the executive branch to the judicial branch."
Despite the challenge posed by the social media era, politics remains the most powerful tool to improve the lives of communities, Rama asserted. (A2 Televizion)
