Being labeled as the "Swamp Owl" by Prime Minister Edi Rama, his political rival, Sali Berisha, seems to have taken it with sportsmanship on the eve of the start of the campaign for the May 11 elections.
The leader of the Democratic Party appeared at Friday's press conference with a white owl on his desk, asking cameramen to film him.
" Film it a little, please don't forget. So I can't say this is a gift for Edi Rama ," Berisha said, further explaining that the owl is " a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and decision not in centuries, but in millennia ."
Berisha then stated that Edi Rama's ignorance is not an argument against him.
"I decided to bring here before the media and the Albanian public what cultural poverty and desertion the man who quotes, who calls Sali Berisha every day, has, with the name of the most accomplished symbol of knowledge, wisdom and decision of Ancient Greece, of Ancient Rome.
