The plenary session in the Albanian Parliament has started today.
At the start of the session, there were retorts between the head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali.
Bardhi has accused Spiropali of violating the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, reports A2 CNN.
Bardhi has requested that hearings be held with independent institutions and that the Assembly continue its work after July 8, with relevant recommendations for improving the work of each of them.
"Without July 8, we cannot adopt laws, but work on recommendations is not stopped. Therefore, the reporting calendars of independent institutions to the Assembly must continue and the Assembly must be able to issue recommendations on their work. There is no reason for the work of the Assembly to be closed in this regard. Your decision is a flagrant violation of the Constitution and the deadlines set by the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly," said Bardhi, writes A2 CNN.
But on the other hand, Spiropali stated that the hearings are foreseen in the calendar, while advising Bardhi not to worry, as the work of the deputies will be done.
"All 26 independent institutions are foreseen in the calendar. Hearings should also be scheduled depending on the committees. It has been impossible for the deputies to include them in the hearing due to the lack of deputies and other issues that were discussed previously. They have been included in the calendar and have also been voted on in the session. We will do our work, without worry," said Spiropali, among other things.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha described the problem of the Ombudsman as a problem that is postponed almost from year to year.
Berisha added that the Socialist Party hesitates to choose a candidate from the class of former political prisoners as the head of this institution, while speaking about Mr. Ndregjoni.
"The problem of the Ombudsman is a problem that has been postponed for almost a year. And it is postponed and postponed because you, or your leader Ramaduro as they are now calling him on all continents, does not accept the candidacy presented by the opposition, although he meets every criterion and honors that duty. But the rule has been that the Ombudsman is proposed by the opposition and you seek to impose through exclusions without any criteria of the candidates presented by the opposition, to impose the candidacy and you are willing to postpone for years just one candidacy, which for you is not accepted only because there are years of persecution and political imprisonment. Yesterday I gave an interview and a well-known journalist asked me if the demons of the old system in Albania have awakened with Ramaduro.
He also spoke about Ramaduro. What you are doing is evidence of their awakening because you are hesitant to accept a candidacy from the class of the politically persecuted, although Mr. Ndregjoni meets all the criteria. Therefore, today let's vote and close this matter. This is unacceptable. This is an institution, despite the fact that in the drug state all institutions are multiplied by zero, but for us this is an institution that must be completed with its leader", said Berisha, among other things.
