Former Democratic Party candidate in Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti, has expressed reservations about the vote recount process for this district.
On the 'Debat' show with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, Alimehmeti said that the CEC should have seen the evidence provided by the candidates and agreed to review the camera footage during the vote counting process.
He added that their request was also rejected by the KAS and the Electoral College, as according to him, they were afraid of this process and the results it could produce.
Alimehmeti raised the question that if the candidates' requests to view the videos are not accepted, then why should millions of lek be spent on releasing these images?
"KAS has rejected our requests. The Electoral College has also rejected them. My request has been rejected and the videos have not been seen. Now a second process has begun, but it is outside the scope of the first process. It will be announced that this will be within the conditions of human error. Votes that for me are completely valid will be declared invalid.
As long as the CEC has not gone to the tests, it means that it is clearly afraid. The videos of the counting of ballots and their removal in front of the cameras have not been released. Then the question arises, why are these videos being made? Why are millions of lek being wasted?
"I think that the use of that artifice in our case, of the candidates, is not constitutional. Without seeing the content, it is not possible for an institution to reject a request. As long as the videos have not been seen, this process returns to an electoral farce," Alimehmeti said, among other things. (A2 Televizion)
