"We are like Somalia" - Rama ironizes, takes stock of tourism: 4.8

Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that foreign tourists in Albania in 2024 are estimated to have spent 4.8 billion dollars, or 4.5 billion euros, in our country.

Rama made the comments in the 'Sy m'Sy' section on his Facebook page, in direct communication with citizens.

Rama said that there is a 54.7% increase in the tourism sector, compared to the level before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rama also said that 980 million dollars were spent by Albanians who took vacations within the country during 2024, writes A2 CNN.

The chief executive added that there are 278,000 employees in the tourism sector, while ironically attacking the opposition, which, according to him, does nothing but paint Albania as Somalia.

"Foreign tourist spending in Albania, in 2024, is estimated at 4.8 billion dollars, or 4.5 billion euros. 4.5 billion euros of income from those who come here and these 4.5 billion euros they leave here."

The increase is 54.7%, an extraordinary increase compared to the pre-pandemic level. Meanwhile, the spending of domestic tourists, that is, Albanians who vacation in Albania, where people die for bread and everyone is killed on the streets, is $980 million, or 950 million euros, spent by Albanians living in Albania.

"Those who, according to some here, have no bread to eat. Expenditures from foreign tourists who move throughout the year within Albania are 18%. Employees in the tourism sector, 278 thousand. I understand why it seems different to those who do not know how to do anything else, except paint Albania as Somalia", said Rama, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
