Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has raised an important issue during discussions on the war in Ukraine, noting that the diplomatic landscape on the issue has changed significantly following the ongoing talks between Donald Trump and Russia. He urged Western leaders not to ignore this new reality.
"We have been on American autopilot for a long time. Now this autopilot seems to have been turned off, we don't know for how long, so it is time for a deeper reflection," Rama said during a videoconference intervention at the Summit being held on Ukraine on the third anniversary of the war.
"I'm not sure that by talking only about increasing military support and increasing military spending we understand the whole issue. That's my humble opinion. Maybe I'm wrong."
Rama said that, although the positions on military aid and Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO continue, it is important to address the fact that the US and Russia are now holding separate talks. The Albanian Prime Minister noted that many leaders seem to be continuing as if nothing had happened, when in fact, the situation is much more complicated.
He stressed that deeper reflection is needed on how Ukraine can be supported, as well as on how Europe can defend itself in such a complicated situation. (A2 Televizion)
