The Municipality of Tirana has clarified the situation created in the last 48 hours in this institution. After many years, the press office of the municipality has called journalists to a press conference, where Anuela Ristani stated her position. She is the delegated mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, while explaining that Veliaj's decision was made under conditions of truncated information.
On Friday afternoon, upon regaining her position and control of the Municipality, Mayor Ristani dismissed Erion Veliaj's two trusted people, Deputy Mayor Sara Goxhaj and General Secretary Alban Dokushi.
When asked by the media, Ristani did not make public the motivation for the dismissal, which in the official letter bears only her signature and not Erion Veliaj's. Ristani ruled out the institutional crisis in the Tirana municipality.
During her speech, she praised Erion Veliaj for the joint mission, which she described as the change of Tirana. She concluded her speech with gratitude to Prime Minister Edi Rama for his support for the municipality staff.
On March 18, Mayor Erion Veliaj dismissed the deputy mayor Anuela Ristani from the pre-trial detention cell. He ordered that the deputy mayor Sara Goxhaj, who formally held the position for less than a day, take over. A few hours later, Veliaj withdrew the decision, leaving Anuela Ristani in charge.
