In the Central Election Commission, the mandate of the mayor of Kučova, Kreshnik Hajdari, is being discussed, whether or not he will be dismissed from office after hiding a sentence in Greece.
Hajdar's defense said that this 4-month prison sentence, which was later converted to probation, for illegal border crossing is not affected by the decriminalization law. Consequently, according to the lawyer, there is no reason for Hajdar's mandate to be terminated.
"In our assessment, there is no reason to terminate his mandate and what is claimed by these people, it turns out that in 1999, when Hajdari was 16 years old, he was caught by the Greeks for illegally crossing the border. It is not affected by the decriminalization law", said the defense lawyer.
However, the lawyers of Reestablishment claim that the mandate should be terminated immediately, as according to them the measure of punishment is not important, but because of the fact why it has not been declared.
Kreshnik Hajdari turns out to have been convicted in Greece by the Court of Ioannina in 1999, which he did not declare in the Decriminalization Form. Hajdari was sentenced to 4 months in prison. This sentence was converted to probation for illegal border crossing. However, he stated that he was not aware. (A2 Televizion)
