The Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations announces that the Presidency of the Democratic Party has approved the lists of candidates for the Primaries that will take place in March.
So far, a total of 468 proposed and self-proposed candidates have been registered, of which 289 have submitted the relevant documentation.
In this race, 89 candidates are women (31%), while 47 belong to the youth age group (16%).
Upon the proposal of the Democratic Leader Sali Berisha, considering that the deadline for submitting documentation for participation in the Primary Process was short, and this may have caused difficulties mainly for candidates who have expressed interest from the diaspora, the Presidency decided that only for candidates who have expressed interest but have been unable to complete and submit the relevant documentation, this deadline should be extended until Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 24:00.
