Several versions of the ballot for the May 11 elections are being considered by the Central Election Commission.
Before Ilirjan Celibashi selects the final variant, he has submitted several models for public consultation that must find agreement from the competing parties.
Due to the preferential selection of candidates, the problem seems to be the ballot paper in Tirana, which at best exceeds half a meter.
The changes in the electoral code direct the CEC to approve a ballot that also contains the names of candidates for MP, given that 2/3 of the list will be subject to preferential voting.
"We open the meeting. The district that presents logistical difficulties in managing the ballot during voting is Tirana. For this electoral zone, the CEC has two models, but their dimensions are larger than the secret voting room, behind which the citizen positions himself to make his choice. In the best case, this ballot can go over half a meter, but if the number of competing parties increases, it is not excluded to switch to the B1 format with a length of up to one meter", said the chief commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi.
The models submitted for consultation contain 10 electoral subjects, two fewer than in the 2021 parliamentary elections, which could hypothetically lead to an even larger slate as several new parties have expressed their ambition to compete in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.
