Prime Minister Edi Rama ordered Tirana Municipality employees not to repeat the mistake they made when they went to protest in front of the Special Court, on the day of the assessment of the security measure for Erion Veliaj, writes A2 CNN.
"I requested this meeting with all of you because I have seen among you, but also among many others, people who are affected, hurt, disappointed, and desperate. Some of you even went to the door of the Special Court to protest the day the mayor was left in prison without trial. I do not want to judge them badly, on the contrary, I understand their emotion, but it was a mistake that, no matter how innocent, should not be repeated again, neither by you nor by anyone who works for the Albanian state," Rama said in an open meeting with employees at Skanderbeg Square.
"Each and every one of you represents a large team, a key institution of this country, an autonomous power that should in no way appear in the territory of another, independent power, such as that of justice. I do not think much differently from those who went there, regarding the termination without trial of the contract of the mayor with the citizens of the capital, who is today held in prison with the status of a suspect, but not yet with that of a defendant, let alone a guilty person, which is unacceptable even logically and which is inexplicable even for all those quarter of a million who have elected the mayor to stay in office and not to be locked up inside without trial."
