Diaspora Day was celebrated today with the participation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu, Minister of the Interior Ervin Hoxha, Chairman of the Diaspora Coordinating Council, Mark Gjonaj and members of the Council Diaspora Coordinator.
At the center of the discussions was the importance of the Albanian language and the preservation of national identity in the diaspora.
Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Ogerta Manastirliu, during her speech, underlined the importance of the Year of the Albanian Language, describing it as a big step for the awareness and promotion of the Albanian language around the world, writes A2.
Minister Manastirliu informed that the financing of the "Teachers for Greece" program by the Albanian government will start its implementation at the beginning of next year and aims to support teachers, not only with financial aid, but also with tools and didactic materials for classes the Albanian language of diaspora children.
"We have built for the first time and are financing a dedicated program "Teachers for Greece", starting from January, about 50 teachers will be supported financially, but also with didactic support for Albanian language classes, according to a defined curriculum and this model will undoubtedly be expanded to other countries in the coming years, as a direct contribution of the Albanian government to the learning of the Albanian language for the children of the diaspora", said Minister Manastirliu.
Considering the preservation of the Albanian language as an important mission, Manastirliu said that the register of teachers in the diaspora has been consolidated, including hundreds of teachers who offer lessons in the Albanian language and culture at different levels through teacher connections. Also, the registration of Albanian students has improved significantly, increasing the participation of children in these courses organized and led by diaspora educators.
Minister Manastirliu spoke about the work to finalize all the cycles of publications of the Albanian Language and Culture, unified for the students of the diaspora.
"We have completed together with the Ministry of Education of Kosovo the second level publication of "Albanian Language and Culture". We are carrying out the joint publication for the third level, thus completing the entire series of texts for learning the Albanian Language and Albanian Culture. We can proudly say that 2025 will be the year when Albanian children in the diaspora, as well as their teachers, will have all the textbooks in their hands, be it first, second or third level that will be finalized soon , to continue learning the Albanian language at all three levels", Manastirliu said.
The year 2024, announced by the Ministry of Education and Sports as the Year of the Albanian Language, marked an important step not only for awareness and attention to the Albanian language within the country, but also for the many initiatives and activities that accompanied this year abroad, which culminated in the National Assembly for the Albanian Language. During this year, the Ministry of Education and Sports has distributed over 15,000 books for Albanian students in 16 countries, ensuring that the children of the diaspora have access to the unified books of the Albanian language and culture.
