Sali Berisha held a meeting with medicinal plant producers, with whom he shared some parts of the Democratic Party's program that facilitate this sector.
"We consider the agricultural sector a sector of primary importance for the realization of this project. And we are committed to a complete reversal of the current system, of this system's attitude towards agriculture, livestock, aromatic plants, etc. We will double the budget for this sector and quadruple or quintuple the subsidy for farmers. We will subsidize every hectare planted, every head of livestock and every seedling planted. For you as a special sector, we will subsidize your every effort for cultivation, collection, assembly, processing and export. I guarantee that you will be a sector with absolute priority. The entire process up to export will be strongly subsidized. Great logistical facilities will be created for the collection of these plants. Great facilities will be created for the industry of their processing in the country."
In response to concerns about tariffs imposed by the US, the Democratic leader declared that he would negotiate with Washington for a reciprocal policy that would nullify these tariffs. Otherwise, he promised that the state would compensate them in full.
"Our stance on tariffs is to negotiate with the US government for zero tariffs. We will impose zero tariffs with the request that the US government respond with zero tariffs. We assume that the US government for its own reasons does not adopt this, we will fully compensate you for the export tariff imposed by the countries where you export." (A2 Televizion)
