Defense Minister Pirro Vengu met in Brussels with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The statement released by the press office of the Ministry of Defense states that Minister Vengu and Secretary Hegseth agreed to continue interaction at the highest levels for common objectives.
During the NATO ministerial, Minister Vengu held several meetings with counterparts from the USA, France, Italy, Croatia and Hungary. The focus of the talks was on strengthening military cooperation, strategic attention to our region and advancing joint projects in the Defense Industry and the modernization of the Armed Forces.
Vengu also greeted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, whom he praised for his leadership in guiding the Euro-Atlantic Alliance in these challenging times.
In the conversation with the French Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecornu, several steps were coordinated in order to modernize the Armed Forces, with the aim of concretizing the projects as soon as possible.
In the meeting with the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Ivan Anušić, they agreed to further strengthen relations, with a special focus on cooperation in Kosovo and security in the Adriatic-Ionian region. Minister Vengu invited his Croatian colleague for a visit to Tirana.
With Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, Minister Vengu discussed the advancement of projects for the transformation of our land, air and sea capabilities.
"Convinced that very soon we will have a series of qualitative results with an impact on the maritime space. With our Italian colleagues, we also converge on increasing exercises, training, and education," said the Minister of Defense, according to the Ministry's announcement.
During the conversation with his Hungarian counterpart, Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, the possibility of strengthening cooperation in the Defense Industry, education in the field of medicine, and the exchange of experiences in security and defense were discussed.
