The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, has paid an official visit to Rome, with the aim of continuing the cooperation between the Tor Vergata University Hospital Center, the University and Hospital Complex of Chieti-Pescara and the University of Medicine, Tirana, concretized with the bilateral agreement, which had started in principle in 2023.
The good news for Albanian citizens is that this agreement foresees cooperation in several very advanced and complex areas, including healthcare for patients as well as advanced professional training for medical staff, with the aim of further increasing the capacities of QSUNT.
According to Koçiu, "The partnership, which has been underway for two years now in advanced fields such as kidney, liver and pancreas transplants, provides opportunities for the treatment of Albanian patients and the training of our doctors, with the aim of these procedures being increasingly carried out in our country."
In her communication, the Minister of Health underlined the importance of cooperation with specialized health structures in Europe and beyond, further improving service to citizens.
"From Sheba Medical Center last week and today from Policlinico Tor Vergata, we continue to move forward with our international partners to build a health system where every Albanian citizen receives free, dignified and equal services to those of every European citizen," said the minister.
We recall that last month, the Minister of Health, Prof. Orazio Schillaci, was on an official visit to Tirana, with whom the Declaration of Goodwill was signed, in the field of improving neonatal services in the maternity hospitals of Tirana, Fier and Dibra, in the pharmaceutical sector with a focus on the treatment of rare diseases, as well as expanding academic cooperation and scientific research.
