In a meeting with the delegates of the Tirana district for the May 11 elections, the leader of the Democrat Party, Sali Berisha, called for strong organizations, asking each of the deputies to make a list of all the immigrants they know from their family and family circle.
"And if you stop for a moment, they are no less than 100. The diaspora vote is historic. They are terrified," Berisha underlined.
Berisha then focused on the amendment that the Democratic Party has proposed, allowing all immigrants who do not possess an Albanian identification document, but rather one from the country where they live, to vote.
According to him, it is absurd that the Socialist Party has declared against this voting practice for the Albanian diaspora.
"Now they are demanding that only those who have the Albanian document in their pocket can vote. Is there a more absurd request than this? They are demanding that the biometric documents of Germany, France, and the USA not be recognized at a time when all of Europe recognizes them. The USA recognizes them. They say no, they will not be able to vote with these. It is absurd to reject the biometric documents of Germany, France, Britain, the USA, etc. Only a primitive mind can allow itself to reason in this way," said Berisha.
Given the precedent set, the leader of the DP asked Albanian immigrants to demand their right to vote even without an Albanian ID in their possession, by protesting in front of Albanian embassies.
"I call on the diaspora to react with strong protests in front of the embassies of the narco-state because this is unimaginable discrimination. You must have the hatred for the vote that Edi Rama has to order such an act," the opposition leader emphasized.
He further confirmed that the DP will vote whatever is necessary for the diaspora voting process, "but absolutely not, if they seek to punish the diaspora with biometric documents . "
"This is nonsense, this is shameful. Imagine now, there is a family there, the man has lost his Albanian passport and has taken a German passport. The woman has kept it somewhere. Now she can vote, he cannot. Now Damiani says that this will cause us problems. How can I cause problems? But in the entire digital system, it is accepted and recognized. It is verified. It is as safe as ours. As for whether he is a voter or not, we have the voting list. He is registered", Berisha further explained. (A2 Televizion)
