Nearly 4 years after being declared persona non grata by the United States of America, Sali Berisha appeared before the cameras with a victorious statement, stating that he is no longer sanctioned by the US State Department.
"Regional news for Albania but also for the world, is the news in which the State Department, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, expresses his position in the response given to a well-known journalist that he does not support and does not endorse the political, politicized decisions of the Biden administration, in the specific case of Sali Berisha," Berisha said.
In the absence of an official announcement, reporters asked the Democratic leader if he had been informed of any decision by American authorities, which he denied.
What could put an end to the dilemma would be obtaining a visa to travel to the US, an element that Berisha had desired before the campaign, but now says he is in no hurry.
"I haven't applied for a visa since 2013, of course I won't go during these last three days of the campaign, it would have been better to go ahead," Berisha said.
The news from America did not distract Berisha, who expressed confidence in the Democrats' victory on May 11. (A2 Televizion)
