"We do not take money from criminals" Alibeaj: Rama and Berisha's

The pronounced financial inequality between political parties in the May 11 election campaign was denounced on A2 CNN by Enkelejd Alibeaj, part of the "Right for Development" coalition. In the Debate with Alba Alishani, he confirmed that the coalition he represents does not receive any funds from the state for the campaign, but covers all expenses from their own pockets.

He accused the SP and the opposition of being together for 35 years and through unbridled luxury they want to divert attention from the real problems of Albanians.

"The difference between the money that one or the other offers. We saw one side at Mother Teresa Square in front of the river, with buses, great luxury for an opposition, we saw on the other side the aggressiveness of the government, the pomp that is in marked difference with the economic level of the Albanian family. Our campaign is with zero money financed by the state, I do not say this to lament but to show the reality of inequality between political entities. The government and the opposition have been an inseparable pair for 35 years, which they now want to suffocate with unbridled hypocritical luxury to hide the reality; poverty, depression, lack of hope of ideas and platform, to suffocate what Albanians would like to see with their own eyes," Alibeaj said on A2 CNN.

According to him, the lack of money from the state for their campaign is due to changes in the electoral code.

"We do not understand that the inequality of the electoral system extends to this part. That the law provided by Rama and Berisha. The inequality has extended not only to the electoral system, but also to the media space and above all the financial inequality deforms the political offers and the inequality that is offered to the voter to cast his vote. Everyone covers the costs with his own money. There are difficulties, just the printing of leaflets and the branding of electoral offices and the costs for spots are not small costs. I do not want to cry and lament, we knew the rules."

Alibeaj emphasizes that there are other ways to campaign, without state funding and without support from dubious sources, calling this an honest attempt to return politics to the people.

"There is only one instrument to take money from criminals, but we do not take it, we want to explore the possibility that a campaign can be conducted without the inflated costs behind which there is also black money. There are other ways to campaign to go to the people, door-to-door meetings, social networks. The reason why we have chosen to campaign is because of the public's disgust with the old way of doing politics. There are ways to break this blockade that is the penetrating force of political positions," he concluded.
