The Head of the General Prosecutor's Office, Olsion Çela, and the Chief Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, agreed to create a special office within the CEC premises to monitor the electoral process until the results are announced.
After a meeting at the CEC premises, the leaders of the two institutions expressed their readiness for the smooth conduct of the May 11 election process.
So, the Central Election Commission and the General Prosecutor's Office signed a cooperation protocol between the two institutions, according to which investigative groups will also go to the CEC premises to monitor the May 11 elections.
"They agreed together to build a coordination protocol. We do not see it as necessary from a legal point of view, but simply to build a protocol of communication and cooperation between the two institutions to address as much as we can the problems of the electoral process," said Celibashi, writes A2 CNN.
Confidence in the electoral processes remains fragile among the opposition, which has asked Olsian Çela for a special task force. But the prosecution sees it more appropriate to continue signing cooperation agreements between the responsible institutions.
"What we seek and strive to do is to realize inter-institutional action, building mechanisms that maximize our human and technical capacity to respond to all the challenges posed by the electoral process, which include, without a doubt, the investigation of electoral crimes and the real-time response of the prosecution to any signal of violations related to the electoral process," said Çela, writes A2 CNN.
SPAK was also involved in the May 11 elections, where, by order of Duman, it established a special unit to investigate complaints of electoral crimes. (A2 Televizion)
