In the joint press conference with Prime Minister Rama, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, listed some of the reasons that led, according to her, to the historic decision to lower the price of energy, at a time when the whole world has increased them.
The Deputy Prime Minister lists the performance of the sector in this decision-making, as she also mentions the reduction of losses in the network and the increasing receipts of spent energy as key factors.
"The decrease is due to the performance of the sector, the participating companies, OST, KESH and finally OSHEE, the largest energy company with 6000 employees, which bears the weight of the relationship with the customer. The three companies have operated during 2022-2024 in full coordination as a single body to achieve the government's demand to lower the price of energy. We reduced network losses to 17% from 46% in 2012 and all investment processes will bring us to a further reduction. 1% reduction in losses saves 7 million euros for OSHEE. The collection rate has been increasing. In 2013 it was 65% of the energy sold. In 2024, we closed collections with 100.5% and this is also a result of the collection of arrears", said Balluku.
