Krasniqi: Brussels has given up, we have to solve the crisis ourselves

The last month of parliamentary activity is evidence of the deep political crisis in which the Parliament of Albania has entered. Overcoming it seems difficult, as long as the political class is used to resolving such events with international negotiations.

Political scientist Afrim Krasniqi is of the opinion that this political crisis requires an internal solution, not as evidence of institutional maturity, but that foreigners, especially Europeans, have withdrawn from their negotiating role.

"We have a fundamental difference that foreigners tell us, but here they don't tell us publicly, since the day we opened the negotiations, they no longer negotiate in Albania. They consider us as potential candidates and say that this is your proof that you are at a different stage", said Krasniqi.

According to Krasniqi, as long as politics will continue to keep its eyes on Brussels beyond crises, this conflict will last as long.

"Where do we have the institutions?! We have a president, an assembly, a prosecutor. But why do we have them, why do we want to enter the EU if we say we have them but they still don't work and we need an English speaker to overcome them?! And they don't send any kind of negotiator, and for the first time no international actor has statements about the situation", he said.

For days, the opposition has been giving signals for an escalation of its action up to a hunger strike, statements which have not encouraged the institutions to find a solution. (A2 Televizion)
