"Politics has turned into moral, verbal and operational sludge",

Albanian politics has turned into a moral, verbal and operational sludge. This is what the head of the Media Council, Koloretoi Cukali, said during an interview on "Dita onna" a day after the clash and insulting language in parliament between Erion Braçe and Ina Zhupa. According to him, the assembly is one of the most degraded institutions of today's Albania and yesterday's case, according to Cukali, is deliberate to avoid important topics. He points out that where the argument ends, the violence begins.

"It exposes a degraded political class and without ideas the parties go towards discrimination, insulting language when they have no ideas offer a banal spectacle until yesterday I thought that what happens on Tik Tok imitates the parliament. Parliament is imitating Tik Tok. I would like to be moments of reflection for the public must take a stand. Rejection begins by unfollowing that person and ends in votes; you don't represent me. They are supposed to be the cream of the nation, not the scum. The public must do something. This is the party that will introduce us to Europe. Here you can't tell your colleagues how to be a street person and drunk in the country that should be the most dignified country in the nation. I'm speculating, but it's more the second; avoiding interpellation. Albanian politics has turned into moral, verbal and operational sludge. It is one of the most degraded institutions in Albania today. There is a tribal, vulgar approach of the people of the forest in the trunks. We have seen punches and slaps that are very vulgar. In this case, it is a deliberate approach to avoid important topics. When you have no argument, violence starts. It should have been the place of the argument".

Cukali emphasizes that the Parliament is imitating Tik Tok, but according to him, the problem is not the platform but society.

"I am very concerned about what happens on Tik Tok, the problem is not the platform, but the society. Hate speech occurs in live communication on Tok Tok. Mechanisms can be found to eliminate verbal violence. By closing the means of communication, you do not stop violence, because it has become a part of society, as in that man who will receive a tender that threatens the competitor with death. We saw the violence in the parliament. Politics has turned into annihilation. Everything is for life and death; me or you Closing Tik Tok does not solve the problem. The problem with aggression is not Tik Tok, it is society. Does anyone have an alternative? After so many years, we are not being offered a better alternative?".

According to Cukal, the only solution is the vote. He says that the public should take a stand by voting against these politicians.

"We have seen that a majority abuses the mechanisms. We have set up an alliance against hate speech under the umbrella of the Council of Europe. We made a set of rules, but that doesn't stop them. This is not a binding measure. The only binding measure is when the public says plenty. This is the only measure this policy can understand. We have parliamentarians who deserve prison, but they don't go. I doubt we can find mechanisms to make them behave. The only one is the vote".
