Following the problems with the ballot envelopes in Greece, Prime Minister Edi Rama has called on all Albanian emigrants registered to vote in the Greek state to collect their ballot envelopes and not miss this historic opportunity to cast their vote. Rama admitted that there were problems with the distribution of the envelopes, but assured that the situation has been resolved and citizens can collect them from the distribution points.
"I wanted to convey a call for prayer and a message to all those who are registered as voters in Greece to receive the envelopes and not to miss the historic opportunity for an encounter with history. It is a historic opportunity to be a voter for the first time outside of Albania but also an encounter with history to include Albania in the great house of the EU. There was a problem with the distribution, but now the company has put things in order, the envelopes have been distributed to the destination and you have all the information to understand what you will do and not to delay in withdrawing the envelopes from the company's distribution points and in case you have received the envelopes at home, take action by returning them to Albania with the number 5".
According to Rama, this is a "meeting with history" and an important step towards Albania's integration into the European Union. In his message, the socialist leader also emphasized the importance of voting for immigrants who do not yet have an Albanian passport and who are waiting for a solution to the pension issue with Greece. He said that this agreement is difficult, but there is good will on both sides, while also bringing to attention the agreement with Italy.
"This vote is of particular importance for Albanians in Greece who still do not have passports and have been plunged into the unjust anxiety of pension recognition. Negotiations with the Greek government have begun but we do not know how long it will take for our will and the Greek government is very positive, but starting from the experience with Italy that took years and then fate brought me a sister in Rome and things were accelerated. From the agreement with the sister and to the final signature, I do not know how long a year and a half, or two years, one can guess how long the agreement with Greece can last. It is the most difficult agreement, the large numbers make it more difficult because there are financial costs. Greece is not Italy in terms of power."
The Prime Minister accused the opposition of attempting to smear the process, mocking the voices claiming envelope manipulation and calling them "the cries of the tawny owl."
"It is a shame that after you have made the effort to register, you do not take the effort to vote. You have seen the cries of the short-eared owl spread beyond the borders, warning of the great theft. One of the blue salamanders had taken some envelopes out on the street and claimed that they were envelopes seized by someone or someone. The political leader for the diaspora has made a clarification that you can collect envelopes from your own home, and when you are a slave to the owl and your home turns into a swampy trench, and you say that the regime does these things, but no one eats these things. Therefore, let us focus and push Albania forward and accelerate the drying of that swamp that is a national disaster, an anti-European wound in the body of Albania." (A2 Televizion)
