Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his "Sy m'sy" column on Facebook, spoke again about integration into the European Union, emphasizing that the EU "is a 'cold' mechanism that looks at work and results."
"EU accession is a process that is very concrete today and for the first time since we emerged from the darkness of communism, there is complete compatibility between our desire to enter the EU and theirs to accept us. In the process of integrating former communist countries into the EU, there have been moments when the door has been opened and closed due to EU internal policy. On the other hand, we are at a moment where the door has been opened for us and Montenegro. What does it mean that the door is open for us? We have a work calendar on the table, which has a deadline, the end of 2027, to conclude the negotiations," said Rama, writes A2.
"The EU does not play games or comment on Facebook, it does not participate in voting and in Albania there are no party flags, but there is an entire mechanism to monitor the progress of affairs in a country that claims to be part of it. And it will not even know about political affiliations, it is a cold mechanism that only looks at work and results. If it says the opposite of what you say, it means that in reality Albania is making very big steps in transforming its entire state organism and is becoming a state ready to become a member of the EU. This is a fact that even the ball does not play. Why do we need a vote on May 11? Because these negotiations are a process where there is not a single day, not a month or a year to lose. If we lose even one more day, things are postponed and the gate may be closed", Rama added.
