The High Inspectorate of Justice (ILD) has reviewed 25 complaints against the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and over 2,800 such complaints for the entire justice system. The institution's annual report says that for 2024 it has sent 25 magistrates for disciplinary investigation. The figures seem to indirectly provide an answer to the accusation of the prime minister, who a few weeks ago complained that the head of the ILD was not active.
"What time is it 10 o'clock? Where is the High Inspectorate of Justice? It hasn't woken up yet...".
Artur Metani chose to respond to Edi Rama's accusation with documents. In the ILD's annual report, the head of the institution speaks through figures, explaining that the institution's activity has been voluminous and not sleepy.
"With reference to the activity and in function of fulfilling the above legal provisions, at the Office of the High Inspector of Justice, for the year 2024, an increasing number of complaints filed is noted, compared to the previous year. During this year, 1491 new complaints were filed," the report reads.
Edi Rama's harsh stances came under the accusation that SPAK is not following the standards in investigating criminal offenses, especially in the Erion Veliaj case. However, ILD says that part of the reviewed complaints have also been special magistrates: "The object of review for 2024 is a total of 2854 complaints, including complaints filed during this year. Of these, the Office of the High Inspector of Justice during 2024 has reviewed 12 complaints against the GJKKO and 25 against SPAK. In fulfillment of legal provisions, the High Inspector of Justice after reviewing the complaints has approved 970 decisions, of which 23 decisions for disciplinary investigation against 25 magistrates."
Among the acts approved during 2024, the ILD says that it has proposed to the Supreme Court of Justice the dismissal of 6 judges, a 40% salary reduction for 3 prosecutors, as well as 2 remarks for two others. (A2 Televizion)
