"Anyone who knows me knows very well that I don't work to live, I live to work." This is how Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to one of his Facebook followers in the "Sy m'sy" section who accused him of traveling everywhere with public money. Rama stated that in 12 years he has only gone out to restaurants 30 times, and of these, according to him, 25 were with his family.
"I live to do things, not to consume things. Since I became prime minister, I may have gone out to restaurants 30 times in total in 12 years, that's a lot. And of these 25 were probably with my family. It's a big sacrifice for my family and our children. Yes, that's right. Anyone who knows me knows very well about all the advertised pleasures. I can go without eating for two days and I do it because of the benefits it gives to my body. I only eat one meal at dinner and one at home. Here at lunch, if I eat, they bring it here."
The head of government denied traveling in business class, explaining that all travel is for work and economic, with the exception of long trips to the US.
"Travel, I swear if I had the opportunity to cut them with a knife and minimize them, I would minimize them with the greatest pleasure because they are business trips, not pleasure. They are business trips and that is why I find it very difficult and I am surprised what these people are asking for when they talk nonsense; no, they took a private plane. No luxury flights, private flights with the family. I only take all my flights with my family on economy like everyone else. The business flights with the plane that I was able to have are work and are a reduction in time and other expenses. I do not spend a single lek more than what is spent by the prime ministers. Members of the government do not travel on business, except for trips to the USA which are very long and it is normal." (A2 Televizion)
