Prime Minister Edi Rama confirmed that he will hold two meetings with Albanians in Greece at the end of March. As A2 CNN reported on March 18 , Rama will be in Crete on March 29, and in Athens on March 30.
"See you on March 29 in Crete, March 30 in Athens," Rama said in a video published on social media.
In these two meetings, Rama will also be accompanied by the political leader for the Diaspora in the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla.
In recent months, the Prime Minister has undertaken a tour of meetings with the Albanian diaspora in several European countries. On May 12, 2024, he began this tour in Athens, where he was welcomed by thousands of Albanians at the "Christmas Theater" hall at the 'Galatsi' stadium. In his speech, Rama stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Albania and Greece, calling for a new history of cooperation.
Then, on May 26, 2024, the Prime Minister held a meeting in Milan, Italy, at the sports palace in Busto Arsizio, attended by Albanian immigrants from various cities in Italy. During this meeting, Rama discussed the inclusion of the diaspora in decision-making processes in Albania and the possibility of voting from abroad.
A follow-up meeting was scheduled for June 2, 2024, in London, but was canceled. The meeting scheduled for June 16, 2024, in Germany, was also canceled due to the European Football Championship, making it impossible to hold such an event.
During these meetings, Rama announced that Albanians living abroad will have the opportunity to vote by mail in the spring 2025 parliamentary elections. He stressed the importance of the diaspora's engagement in the country's democratic processes and their role in Albania's development. (A2 Televizion)
