Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his next "eye to eye" appearance on social media, declared that he is not attacking SPAK, but is calling for standards.
According to him, it has been seen in other countries "how anti-corruption, when derailed, becomes even more dangerous than corruption."
"We have carried out a reform with massive support of the new justice system, with 3,342 employees paid by the Albanian state, and in this past year 1.2 billion have been allocated. Now, what should we do? Accept that testimony is still taken for hours and in the end they give you 5 sheets of paper and tell you: sign it! After intimidating you and stopping you on the street with your 3-year-old child? How can we not talk about this? These are not attacks, but calls for standards. We have seen this in the past and in previous countries we have seen how anti-corruption, when it goes off the rails, becomes even more dangerous than corruption. How they take people's phones and see everything inside and blackmail them? How entrepreneurs are taken in line there and pressure is put on them. One of the witnesses has had his whole life blocked because he had all the transactions on his phone," Rama declared.
"The fight against corruption is a fight against corruption. I do not negotiate my ideals, nor my principles for anything, nor the clear position of the Socialist Party. The Socialist Party has in its DNA the fight to build a state and protect standards," Rama added.
