With the resolution of the Democratic International of the Center in hand, Sali Berisha appeared before the media again this Saturday to denounce what he calls an electoral farce.
The democratic leader claimed that 108 center-right parties gathered in Ivory Coast approved the resolution proposed by the Democratic Party and have described the May 11 elections as a farce.
"It approved with complete unanimity, without any objections, the resolution on the electoral farce of May 11 in Albania. In this resolution, the Democratic International of the Center universally denounces what happened on a May 11 farce in our country."
While reading the text of this resolution, Berisha stated that the opposition's demands for a technical government and free elections have found full support in this world forum.
"A lot of ado about nothing..."
He made this comment when asked about the rejection by the KAS of the requests of some Democratic Party candidates for a recount of votes. According to him, the candidates for deputies have followed the wrong path in demanding their right, since the legal framework in force gives the parties the right to invest in all of their representatives.
"If the party has requested the illegality of the elections, the first request that is reviewed is the illegality. After that, the party receives and presents the candidates' requests one by one. Some candidates who have requested a recount have filed them with the party representatives at the CEC and are waiting for the moment of the evaluation that the party has for X district and then their complaints will be presented."
This is how Berisha says, Ilir Alimehmeti, Mimoza Hajdamataj, Lisandër Hoxha and Aulon Kalaja should have acted, where they should have waited for the party's complaints and then expressed their dissatisfaction with their own results.
"These four have the right to file our complaint with our representatives at the CEC and they will present the request to the CEC as they wish. So, it was just a misunderstanding on their part."
Berisha was also asked about Ilir Meta's statement from prison, where he claimed that he would run independently in the 2027 elections. According to the DP leader, the coalition with the Freedom Party was for these elections, admitting that the alliance with Meta could be broken. (A2 Televizion)
