Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his column "Sy m'Sy", considered the Socialist Party's list full of new faces for the May 11 elections a brutal opening for the party he leads.
"Our national team is something completely different, built very carefully since last September. When we have appointed the political leaders of the regions, they begin and do all the study work of the territory of potentials and collaborate with communities, with actors and factors to identify the most suitable and possible candidacies. Not all those who have been contacted have agreed to enter politics. We have used the closed lists to open the party, to make the opening brutal, in the sense that if the internal capacities in the territory from the point of view of access to organizations are such that they hinder the opening, we must impose it at a key moment, giving opportunities to young men and women who otherwise would not be able to enter," said Rama.
The head of government praised the fact that the work to select candidates for MPs has started a year ago and that, according to him, the SP's platform "The MP we want" has been useful for this process.
"We have relaunched the "Deputy We Want" platform. We conducted the first test in 2021, it was the first time, we had about 500 or so applications. Then we addressed all those who applied with a second selection process, and from this selection, about 250 individuals emerged who were given the opportunity to enter the field and work in the field. The platform has brought us a great innovation," Prime Minister Rama underlined.
