Yesterday, the Democratic Party took the first steps towards the primary process, writes A2 CNN.
A notice has been sent to the heads of the DP branches informing them that if they want to participate in the primaries and run for MP, they must resign from their positions in the leadership of the party branch.
Following this instruction, the first resignation from the DP branches also came. It was the chairwoman of the Saranda DP, Manjola Nikollo, who resigned from her leadership position and expressed her ambition to run in the primaries.
Through an announcement, she expressed her ambition to run as a DP MP and sought the support of all members in the primary race.

Dear members and supporters of the Democratic Party of Saranda!
Thanks to your support, 8 months ago, I was re-elected for a second term as the head of our branch. My responsibility to every democrat doubled, my motivation to successfully fulfill my duty multiplied. During this period, I have tried with all my heart not only to fulfill my functional duties, but also to do everything to unite and strengthen our branch on the eve of the general elections.
Based on the instructions of the DPA leadership, the function of the Branch Chairman conflicts with the Primary process and therefore must be withdrawn, I humbly ask you to accept the decision to resign from the position. As one of you, passing step by step each function from a simple member of the section to the leadership level, I consider my ambition to run in the Primary process for the Democratic Party's list of candidates for deputies for the May 11, 2025 elections legitimate, which I cannot achieve without your support!
I have never called being a leader a privilege, but an act of sacrifice for the common good, especially these 12 difficult years of opposition that we have all experienced together. Alongside you, I have worked as an equal among equals, as a democrat among democrats, but above all as a citizen who sees politics as a means to serve and not to profit. I have always fought to achieve and not to remain silent in the face of injustice, because I have always believed that endurance and courage are the right means for us to succeed.
Running for MP has never been a goal in itself. My goal has always been to contribute to the Democratic Party regardless of position. But I think that at these moments the conditions are ripe for my representation, ours together, to move to this new stage. I do not prefer and have never preferred appointments, so I will run again, as I have always done, starting from the section, the leadership, and up to the branch leadership.
Starting today, I will ask for the support of every member for the Primary Election race, with a clear objective and vision. I am convinced that, together, we can not only ensure that Saranda is represented at the central level with a resident of its own, one who knows and "crys" properly about the city's problems, but also that the Democratic Party achieves the long-awaited and well-deserved victory.
I humbly ask you to judge the Primary Elections with coolness and prudence, to act as democrats and to behave with citizenship. It is not a contest of names, but a contest of dignity. It is a contest of all of us, to offer every voter the opportunity to choose a good citizen, an intellectual, a fair politician, but above all, their devoted representative. I am convinced that I represent these qualities, and on this basis I will also ask for your support.
Being grateful and humbled for your extraordinary sacrifice during these very difficult years of opposition, I ask for your support in this new challenge.
