Erion Veliaj seems to have spent the first hours of isolation thinking about the public reaction after his arrest by SPAK.
From the Security Block cell, the mayor had enough time to post a few lines on social media, refusing to accept any of the four charges brought against him and, consequently, not giving up his mandate as mayor of Tirana.
"Now I no longer have to remain silent about what my eyes have seen in my behavior with my family and my ears have heard under the roof of SPAK. Believe me, it is not easy to remain silent when your skin burns as if cigarette butts are being extinguished on your body from the idiocies that a prosecutor says, like the one who did not leave a witness without blackmailing him," the mayor says.
Veliaj's language towards SPAK was more moderate than the accusations constantly directed at the special prosecution body, but in the end, he considered the arrest politically motivated to harm the SP in the parliamentary elections.
"I feel sorry for all the collaborators, colleagues, employees of the Municipality of Tirana and I want them to know that I have nothing to do with the idiocies written in the pachavura, unfortunately also initialed by Altin Dumani. It will not be easy, because in these conditions you cannot explain how you want and how much you want, but I have great faith that the truth is stronger than any wall and than any idiot who becomes a barricade against it by abusing the power of justice," he added.
With Veliaj's arrest, the leadership of the Municipality of Tirana will be determined by the Municipal Council, which must appoint one of the four vice mayors to exercise the powers of the first citizen of the capital. (A2 Televizion)
