The Chairperson of the Albanian National Alliance, Elena Kocaqi, commented on the recent clash over the sole mandate of the "Albania Initiative" between Endri Shabani and Adriatik Lapaj on the show Debat by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN. She emphasized that, based on the agreement, the mandate of the deputy belonged to Lapaj and that, in Shabani's place, she would never accept the mandate, even if the difference between them was only one vote.
"I know both of them. But in this case, based on the agreement they have, the mandate belonged to Lapaj. If I were in Shabani's place, even if one vote was the difference, I would not accept the mandate," Kocaqi declared.
She harshly criticized the political culture in Albania, describing it as filled with a lack of manhood and loyalty.
"The problem is that in Albanian politics there is no manhood, there is no loyalty and we suffer. Politics is not immoral. Immoral politics have been made immoral by immoral men in politics," said Kocaqi, adding that politics itself as a process should not be demonized because of the behavior of individuals.
According to her, agreements and honesty should be part of political culture, but this lack is precisely what harms public trust and the normal functioning of democracy.
"Why aren't there men, men who deal with politics in Albania, we can't call politics like that," Kocaqi said in the Debate. (A2 Televizion)
