The Chairman of the Democratic Party commemorated today the murder of 22 intellectuals by the communist dictatorship in Albania, writes A2 CNN.
During a meeting with representatives of the former politically persecuted class, Berisha also held a minute of silence in memory of the murder of 22 intellectuals.
Berisha also promised during the meeting that the DP's program foresees the final repayment of the state's debt to former political prisoners.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
First, I greet you very warmly. I greet all the members of your honored class wherever they are today in Albania and in the four corners of the world. I thank you for the very good work that the members of this panel have done, all in cooperation with you, to present today to your class and to all Albanians a new program of the DP for the treatment and for the final response to a very large debt that Albanian society has towards your class.
Since we are on a special day, we are on the 74th anniversary of the genocidal act of the Stalinist dictatorial regime of Enver Hoxha, the execution of 22 intellectuals, among the most prominent of the nation, for their fault that they never agreed with the communist dictatorship, never agreed with its anti-values, but remained loyal to those principles and values that divide free and civilized people everywhere in the world, patriots, loyal to human dignity, to God, Albania, let us honor their memory with a minute of silence.
Eternal is their memory! (A2 Televizion)
