Appeal to the district municipalities, mountain ambushes in Gjirokastër out of their function

Mountain ambushes continue to be one of the main problems in the district of Gjirokastra, especially during the autumn and winter period when there is rain with a higher intensity. Most of them were built in the years of communism and since then they have not been reinforced or adapted to the changes in the relief or the flows that have been added.

For this reason, the drainage board in Gjirokastra has appealed to the municipalities that administer them to take measures, since their technical condition means that they no longer perform the effect for which they were built.

And while the municipalities have to find funds to intervene in the vicinity of the city of Gjirokastra, even though the funds have been secured, it is not possible to intervene in the bed of the Drino river, which swallows land and high voltage poles every day, since as a branch of Vjosa it is natural park and protected area.

Erosion and problems of drainage canals have often caused flooding, causing land flooding and road blockages. (A2 Televizion)
