One in three people in Albania suffers from high blood pressure, or the "silent killer" as doctors call it. More than half of the elderly in our country are affected by hypertension, but even more alarming are the morbidity figures among young people.

Nearly 35% of young people over 18 years old today are hypertensive. According to recent studies, 50% of people with high blood pressure do not know they suffer from it. A simple blood pressure measurement can detect problems but also prevent fatal diseases of the heart, brain and kidneys.

Doctors advise healthy eating, reducing salt, increasing physical activity, quitting smoking, alcohol, and energy drinks, especially among young people. Hypertension or high blood pressure occurs when blood pressure is higher than normal.

It can manifest as headaches, dizziness, loss of balance, blurred vision, or difficulty breathing. Early detection of hypertension prevents the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems. (A2 Televizion)
