Pensioners, the group that feels the most the price increase, even by 10 or 15 new lek per kilogram, complain that the prices of fruits and vegetables even in the Vlora city market have become almost unaffordable.
"Completely unaffordable. People will eat bread, they will take 1 kg, they will take 300 grams. And push it with that limited diet. It is impossible with these prices. I am a pensioner and my pension is a very small amount."
"If you ask me, I only received 120 thousand lek from the cooperative pension. That's it. You will eat, you will die, you will live, I have 120 thousand."
"They are expensive, I am a pensioner. What can we do, like all the people?"
Even the market's merchants themselves say that their clientele is mainly retirees and low-income families, who have greatly reduced their purchases, and this is confirmed by sales, which for the merchants are minimal.
"Why so poor? There's no money, that's it. Everyone has left, only the elderly have stayed here in Albania. Everyone is leaving, day by day they are leaving with suitcases. Here are the pensioners. Here is that woman who says she has no money. I gave her no money," said a merchant.
Despite the bonuses, it seems that the level of pensions has made it more difficult for pensioners to shop, even in markets with lower prices compared to supermarkets. (A2 Televizion)
