For 15 years, the residents of one of the largest villages in the Municipality of Fier, that of Shtyllas, have been suffering from a lack of water in their homes.
Known during the time of monism as the village of internments, as families from the north and northeast of the country who declared themselves against the former communist system were interned in this area, even during the years of democracy this mark has remained on this village, but leaving it without water.
Residents describe the difficulties caused by the lack of drinking water: "When the prison was here, there was water. We dug wells just to wash and rinse. To drink, we buy it. Those who have a car, go far away and fill it up."
Regarding this situation, the Fier Water Supply and Sewerage Directorate informs that during the period of the transfer of water supplies from former municipalities to the central water supply, the Levan water supply, which also covers the village of Shtyllas, was non-functional and was not transferred as an asset, therefore during these years it has never been under the administration of the Fier water supply.
This is a handicap that has been promised to be resolved during 2025, in the study and design of all water supply lines. (A2 Televizion)
