Salary and better working conditions are the two main demands of the workers of the cleaning-greening company in the municipality of Gjirokastra. They protested in front of the municipality, denouncing the payment of fictitious workers who receive salaries but never appear at work.
"We have come for the problem of salary increase. We ask for our rightful share, we do not ask for more. They don't give us the uniforms exactly as we need them and they tell us that you are honorable. Talk to me? Where are the works?"
"At least we know what to get. I get 350,000 Lek, I have 80,000 Lek for rent, plus 20-30,000 Lek to put the lights on. Plus I'm with a little kid there at home.”
"Secondly, we cannot get the usual permits. I have been here for 5 years in this company and here they divide an ordinary leave for 4-5 people."
"With this salary, I think I'm kidding. We are not asking for anything other than what the prime minister told us that we are entitled to salary increases. And the second permit, we haven't had a permit for so many years."
"Nothing, nothing. They even threaten us."
The employees of the Cleaning-Greening Company near the municipality of Gjirokastra rose in protest on Friday morning to demand their most basic rights.
The employees have been quite revolted with the local authorities, both for the conditions and the low wages they have left, as well as for the pressure they have exerted on them not to protest and to return to work.
Employees have also denounced the payment of fictitious workers who receive a salary but never appear at work.
"My brigade out of 16 workers, 8 workers leave. For what reason? Where are these workers? They receive the lek in envelopes."
"They get a salary and stay at home."
Until now, there is no official response from the Municipality of Gjirokastra, while according to the previous practice, for any type of request, they should show the Protocol Office to receive an answer within 10 days. (A2 Televizion)
