168 accommodation units are expected to benefit from this decision on the Durrës coastline alone. But how do the administrators of the large resorts on the Durrës coast view this?
Is the beach area they are entitled to limited or expanded in implementation of this decision?
"It's a good thing because all hotels and accommodation units want the beach to look as good as possible, as clean as possible, and this is good for the beaches, but also for the area and the coastline. We had as much space as we needed. There were no shortcomings, at least at our hotel. But there are other hotels that probably had shortcomings in the beach area and now it has become better. With the new VKM they have had the opportunity to get more umbrellas," Blerim Norja, the manager of a resort in Durrës, told A2 CNN.
But the condition of the public beaches, which will be administered by the municipality, remains one of the main concerns of resort administrators.
"The negative side that needs to be looked at very carefully is that these public beaches that will be free for people, will they be able to be maintained, to be clean? So there must be a commitment from the municipality to ensure that public beaches are clean and aesthetic, even for the rest that are not administered by hotels," added Norja.
According to the maps determined by the municipality of Durrës, it turns out that for every 1,000 meters of coastline, at least 300 meters will be public.
