For all patients who have problems with sexuality, fertility and other sexual problems, they should immediately visit a nephrologist. Studies show that in patients with kidney disease, 70% of men and 84% of women have problems with the sexual sphere, affected by the kidneys. Nephrologist Prof.Asoc Marsida Duli, from Premium Clinic, invited to the show Diagnozë by Freskida Miloti, showed the connection that kidney diseases have with sexuality and fertility, which are often joked about even by the simplest urinary infections.

"Both sexuality and fertility are extraordinary dimensions of an individual's physical and mental well-being. They are key elements and closely linked to the quality of life. Their impact is extraordinary. It is not uncommon for individuals who have sexual dysfunction or fertility problems to discover that they suffer from kidney disease - and the opposite is also true. Kidney diseases cause damage to the sexual sphere, that is, to the individual's sexuality and fertility. In this population group, patients suffering from kidney disease, a very high percentage of both men and women, have disorders in this aspect of life" - explained the nephrologist.

Often, many couples fail to have children, even though they complete all gynecological visits. It happens that the kidneys are also the cause of this problem. Some diseases affect the sexuality and fertility of couples, causing these health problems. Nephrologist Prof.Asoc Marsida Duli, from Premium Clinic, invited to the show Diagnozë by Freskida Miloti, appealed for nephrologist and andrologist checks for all couples who fail to conceive. Such a visit will reveal the true causes of fertility.

"A check-up should be done, because there are some cases when a polycystic ovary can also be associated with renal cysts. This is easily evident through a simple ultrasound examination. Ladies and gentlemen, before conception, all individuals who have a history or difficulty in pregnancy, who have been trying for years and have not succeeded, should also seek advice from a nephrologist. A triangle where the andrologist, gynecologist and nephrologist are is important. Of course, all patients who suffer from sexual problems should receive a consultation from a nephrologist." - appealed nephrologist Prof. Assoc. Marsida Duli.

Various sexual, urinary, fertility or menstrual disorders can cause more serious consequences in the patient's body if not treated in time. Many such problems are kept isolated due to stigmatization, but doctors appeal for diagnostic visits.

"To all citizens, both male and female: if you have sexual dysfunction disorders – which include problems with ejaculation, erection or proper performance of sexual activity – or in the case of ladies, menstrual cycle disorders, as well as for young couples who have been trying for a desired pregnancy for a long time without success, it is very important to have a check-up with a nephrologist. This is because, in addition to common problems such as urogenital infections, more serious diseases can also be detected, including chronic kidney damage. It is important that these problems are diagnosed in time, treated properly and the risk of impotence and infertility is prevented." – suggested the nephrologist.

Part of the Diagnozë show is also the column "Në Farmaci", by Freskida Miloti, which comes with some advice on the use of various supplements and minerals. This time we recommend the use of Iodine, an essential mineral that plays a key role in the functioning of the thyroid and the production of thyroid hormones. These hormones are important for metabolism, growth and development of the brain. The main food sources of iodine are: iodized salt, fish, milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs, red and white meat, as well as vegetables. Iodine is vital for overall health, and its deficiency can have serious consequences, so it is important to get the right amount through the diet. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this mineral.
