The 10% tariff that the US has imposed on all countries, including Albania, will also affect collectors and growers of medicinal and aromatic plants in the Kukes region.
Gazmend Koldashi, one of the collectors of these plants, says that the tariff is the second blow for them, after the market collapse and the withdrawal of stocks of all Albanian medicinal products. According to him, it could lead to bankruptcy.
According to him, the 10% tariff will also affect the purchase of medicinal plants, since a product that growers today get for 80 lek will drop to 70 lek, also losing hope among farmers for the cultivation and collection of medicinal and aromatic plants in the country's mountains.
Koldashi says that the government should make a decision to support all farmers in the medicinal and aromatic plant industry after the tariff is imposed. Last year, Albanian producers and exporters sold 16.5 million euros of medicinal and aromatic plants to the American market, up from 14 million euros in 2023. (A2 Televizion)
