A 17-year-old girl from Durrës died this Sunday after suffering from meningitis.
The teenager was sent to the Durrës regional hospital on Saturday, but due to her serious condition, she was transferred to Tirana, where she died.
Referring to this case, the staff of the Durrës hospital, their family members, but also anyone who had contact with the young woman, has been ordered by the Directorate of Public Health to take the relevant vaccine, writes A2.
Meningitis is a rare infection that affects the delicate membranes, called meninges, that cover the brain and spinal cord.
Meningitis can cause blood poisoning, which is life-threatening and result in permanent brain or nerve damage. This disease is contagious, so doctors appeal not to neglect any health condition. (A2 Televizion)
