Individual trophies are important in the world of football, but Sondre Dvergsdal will probably never forget what he was presented with after the weekend's match.
The Varhaug club, which plays in Norway's fifth division, hosted their rivals Bryne for a local derby in the Norwegian Cup on Sunday.
Bryne made headlines last month when they presented goalkeeper Jan de Boer with four boxes of eggs as their bizarre man of the match award, but Varhaug, from the same rural area as Rogaland, set out to prove they are the "real farmers' team" in the southwestern county.
And after their 4-0 defeat, officials presented star Sondre Dvergsdal, who was the player of the match, with a freshly slaughtered pig, which could weigh around 50kg.
"We came to the conclusion that we needed to do more than just the city dwellers from Bryne. The real farmers come from Varhaug," said club manager Sigrid Lode Knutsen.
Meanwhile, Bryne, Erling Haaland's former club, have pledged to continue rewarding their players with local products.
Marketing chief Hagerup Roken said: "It goes without saying that we will be handing out food as prizes to our best players." (A2 Televizion)
