Diogo Jota died on Thursday after a road accident in Spain, along with his brother Andre. Following the tragic event, Liverpool decided to permanently retire the number 20, the number worn by the Portuguese striker on his shirt.
"Number 20 will be rightly immortalised for his contribution as part of the 2024-25 championship team, the club's 20th title. The winning goal in front of the Kop in the Merseyside derby in April will remain his last goal," Liverpool wrote on social media, according to A2.
Diogo Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton, for £40 million.
The Portuguese played 182 games for "The Reds", scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists. (A2 Televizion)
