Paris Saint-Germain secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final, ending the English side's seven-game winning streak. The French side took a two-goal lead into the second leg in England.
Returning for the first time as an opponent against PSG, Unai Emery started the match tactically with the aim of neutralizing the pressure of the home team. However, the Parisians created several dangerous chances with Vitinha and Dembélé, stopped by goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. Despite the lack of clear-cut chances, Aston Villa surprised in the 35th minute, when after a quick counterattack, Morgan Rogers scored after a beautiful combination between McGinn, Rashford and Tielemans.
