Defeated by Usyk, former world champion Tyson Fury announces retirement from

The British heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury, has said that he is retiring from the sport, writes A2 CNN.

According to foreign media, the 36-year-old former world champion appeared on social networks saying that he was hanging up his gloves.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, he said: "I would like to announce my retirement from boxing."

"It's been a blast. I loved every minute of it and I'm going to end it here," he said, according to A2 CNN.

Fury previously said he was done with the sport after defeating Dillian Whyte in 2022, but returned again at the end of that year.

His resignation announcement comes amid speculation about Fury's planned bouts later this year following his rematch loss to world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in December.

Just two days ago, Sky Sports News reported that Wembley had been booked for Fury to fight Anthony Joshua in the summer.

Reporting on the surprise announcement, Sky News sports correspondent Rob Harris said: "Fury has announced his retirement in the past, in 2022, he was lured out of retirement at the time, so is this really the end for Tyson Fury at the age of 36?".

"If that's the case, he's had one of the great British heavyweight boxing careers, but we remember he often makes these announcements, then decides he can't resist the lure of the ring."

He added that fights like Fury's loss to Usyk were "very profitable... so maybe the finances make it very unlikely for him not to get back in the ring again." (A2 Televizion)
