When it comes to choosing a place to live, there are many factors that come into play. For example, distance from family and friends, the type of job you will have in that place and the salary you will receive, the climate, and each person's prospects for the future.
However, a new factor comes into play, at least in this case: 25,000 euros directly into your account if you decide to live in Albinen, a small Swiss village in the canton of Valais.
Albinen is located at an altitude of 1,350 meters, nestled on the Dalat River. Nearby attractions include Leukerbad, a famous spa and ski resort, which has one of the best thermal baths in Switzerland. However, not many people want to live in Albinen.
The village has only 241 inhabitants and to increase the number of residents, the authorities have been offering a housing and family support program since 2018, which, among other things, offers around 26,610 euros for each person, more than 53,000 euros for couples and around 10,000 euros for children who decide to move to Albinen.
But there is a “small catch”: This money can only be received if residents commit to building or renovating a house in Albinen, with one requirement: 70% of the work must be contracted out to regional companies or must be done within the village. Payment will only be made after construction is completed and residence in the village is registered.
On the other hand, people's investment must be at least 200,000 Swiss francs, around 212,000 euros, and those who will move to Albinen must live there for at least ten years. (A2 Televizion)
